Homemade Whipped Tallow Cream
I was flying through a 4 ounce $40 jar of whipped tallow cream for my daughter’s dry skin this winter when I spotted a big pack of grass-fed beef tallow at Costco for just $20. I thought…it can’t be that hard to make myself, right? Turns out, I was totally right—with only 3 simple ingredients and way more budget-friendly! It’s a silky smooth, pure white, non-gritty cream that absorbs well and feels luxurious on the skin. We use it all over! I think my toddlers were convinced it was frosting, they even tried to eat it! 😂 This stuff spreads like a dream—a little goes a long way, so one batch will last you a while! Follow the simple steps below to make your own!
14 ounce pure tallow (we used Organic Grass-Fed Fatworks from Costco)
6 tablespoons sweet almond oil (we used this one but I’ve heard olive oil or jojoba oil works great too)
2 teaspoons essential oils, or more (we used this one)
Microwave tallow until fully melted and smooth. Alternatively, scoop it into a double boiler and melt over low heat on the stovetop.
Stir in the almond oil to the melted tallow. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or until cooled and semi-solid (should be white in color and somewhat solid to touch).
Use a high speed hand mixer or stand mixer to whip it until creamy and airy. Add the essential oils and continue to whip.
Transfer the cream into a glass jar and let it fully cool before sealing. Store at room temperate or in the fridge for a firmer consistency.
Notes: Here is some tallow I found in bulk on Amazon if you want to really commit!
